The treatment of diabetes has come a long way, according to Brian Ballard of CareMore. The health plan representative talked about diabetes at a seminar held Thursday in the Rowland Heights Library. Ballard offered a free, informative seminar on managing diabetes. The disease can lead to blindness and kidney disease as well as heart disease and stroke.

In a finding certain to put new pressure on the purveyors of sugary foods and drinks, a worldwide analysis shows that regardless of its effect on obesity, the ebb and flow of sugar in a country's diet strongly influences the diabetes rate there.
